"In turbulent times, in times of great change, people head for the two extremes: fundamentalism and personal, spiritual experience . . . With no membership lists or even a coherent philosophy or dogma, it is difficult to define or measure the unorganized New Age movement. But in every major U.S. and European city, thousands who seek insight and personal growth cluster around a metaphysical bookstore, a spiritual teacher, or an education center."

Charitable Organizations We Support

Rays of Hope

Rays of Hope is dedicated to offering community education and outreach about breast cancer, providing accessible and advanced breast cancer care from diagnosis to treatment and recovery, and funding breast cancer research through Baystate Health Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.

Regular readers of our newsletter know that Jess (In Touch With Spirit) and I have been supporters of the Rays of Hope as a result of my (our) very dear friend Suzanne St. Germain's fight with breast cancer. We held a series of open houses in 2007 and a fundraising concert in 2008 for the Rays of Hope, and plan to continue supporting this worthwhile and important organization.

Gallons of Hope / The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Research

Click here to see an article in the Springfield Republican newspaper about "Gallons of Hope"!
My friend and student Marykate Sawyer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2007. I will never forget the email she sent me after receiving the diagnosis - distressed, but determined to fight the battle. I was honored to have the opportunity to facilitate Reiki and IET® for her - and how she loved the reflexology I did for her while she was in the hospital! Sadly, she lost her battle on October 27, 2007 at the age of 43. Marykate left behind her wonderful husband Alan and her two children Brigid and Matthew. Her two sisters, Michelle Ducharme of West Springfield and Maura Ducharme of Madison, Wisconsin have decided to raise money for pancreatic research in honor of Marykate.

It was announced in September 2008 that the genome for pancreatic cancer has finally been sequenced. The girls have started something called "Gallons of Hope", with the intent that small donations - the equivalent to one gallon of gas - could be a feasible amount for people to donate to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Research, given the difficulty of the economic times we are in. If you would like to donate to this cause or would like more information about Gallons of Hope, please e-mail Michelle Ducharme at michelleducharme@comcast.net. And please let her know you heard about this from The Heart to Heart Healing Connection!
